Drivers Briefing

We are easily accessible from the A22 & A27.

SatNav to 'Kittyhawk Aerodrome EGKF' on Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze - it will bring you down our private track.

(Please do not use Postcode - it is general area only).

As you drive down our track, parking will be clearly signposted, with attendants on hand.

Please take care and drive slowly on the access track, it is single track with a few passing spots.

Please do not try to park by hangar or staff parking UNLESS you have been issued with a pass (displayed in window) - this route has to be clear at all times.

Pilots Briefing

Please familiarise yourself with our event-specific circuit procedures and enhanced pilot awareness before your flight.

Call Kittyhawk Radio on 118.265 with 10 miles to run – radio comms by professional ATCOs operating our Air/Ground Communication Service (AGCS).

Expect a RWY 16 arrival. (RWY 28 may be available but not guaranteed).

PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF YOUR CROSSWIND MINIMA & ABILITY - WE ARE EXPECTING STRONG SW WINDS.

Avgas 100LL uplift available in the EASTERN APRON – accessible via TWY Es & F towards the end of RWY 16L - we suggest on landing go direct for fuel and parking.

Be mindful of East Sussex Gliding Club to the north & Deanland Airfield (129.730 Mhz) circuit to the northeast.

Please follow marshals when on the ground – we expect to be very busy. They will direct you to parking.

Visitor aircraft parking is situated in the WESTERN & EASTERN aprons (unless previously agreed, no parking by TWYs A & G).

Helicopter arrivals as per fixed wing, using approx midpoint of RWY 16/34 as the FATO, hover-taxi to marked parking in field.

We will be very busy - consider flying in earlier than our anticipated 11:30 BBQ start.

Due to our air display, WE ARE STERILE between 13:30 – 15:30, meaning NO arrivals after 13:00 will likely be accepted, and no departures until the air display time window is complete.

Diversions to Deanland Airfield (LDA 457 m) available. Check NOTAMs before departure.

Site map & conditions

For many of our visitors, this will be their first time at an active aerodrome. Unlike a museum, aircraft will be arriving, departing and taxiing throughout the day, so please help us keep everyone safe by following these simple guidelines.

One of the things that makes Kittyhawk different is that we allow visitors to get much closer to the aircraft than at many larger fly-ins or airshows. It’s a unique opportunity to meet pilots, admire the aircraft and experience a working aerodrome up close.

Please help us keep it that way by respecting the aircraft, their owners and our operational areas. Always follow the guidance of our marshals, staff and resident pilots, and please don’t touch, enter or climb on any aircraft unless you’ve been personally invited by the owner.

There are two marshal-controlled routes available to visit parked aircraft (denoted by black/white dashed line on event map).

By attending, you agree to:

Do not fly drones. Operation of drones or any other unmanned aircraft is strictly prohibited and may be an offence under Article 240 of the Air Navigation Order 2016 (ANO) – “A person must not recklessly or negligently act in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft, or any person in an aircraft.”
Never enter or cross an active runway or taxiway unless specifically instructed to do so by a marshal.
Follow all instructions from our marshals and event staff—they’re there to keep everyone safe.
Supervise children closely—they’re very welcome, but must remain with a responsible adult.
Drive slowly and park only where directed by our marshals.
Keep dogs on a lead at all times.
Do not touch, climb into or sit on any aircraft unless invited to do so by the aircraft owner.

During the fly-in, a single authorised crossing point will be in operation across the active runway. Please use this crossing only, and only when instructed by our marshals. Never enter or cross a runway or taxiway elsewhere.

Air Display Safety Protocol

During the air display, strict Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) safety regulations apply. To protect spectators, pilots and display aircraft, a sterile operating environment must be maintained across the aerodrome.

Between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm (approximately), everyone—including visitors, pilots and residents—must remain behind the clearly marked 75-metre crowd line, located in front of the hangar and concrete apron. Our marshals will be on hand to guide you and answer any questions.

These requirements are a condition of our approval to hold the air display. Any person entering the restricted area or crossing the crowd line without authorisation will result in the display being suspended or cancelled immediately.
